ONE PHOTO EVERY WEEK 22/52/2025 - CAR RENTAL FOR KIDS

Nostalgia Meets Opportunity

Back in the 1980s, I used to take my children to shopping complexes like Ampang Park and Sungei Way, where they could experience the simple thrill of driving miniature electric cars. It was a novelty back then—confined to the interiors of malls, tethered by time and space. Today, that same joy is alive and well, but with a new twist: it’s out in the open air, in community parks like Taman Tasik Cempaka in Bandar Baru Bangi.

What makes this evolution even more delightful is seeing young entrepreneurs stepping up to create fun-filled experiences for children. This setup of electric cars in a public park isn’t just about entertainment—it’s a small but brilliant example of market segmentation in action. It targets a very specific group: families with young children, visiting public parks during weekends or holidays. It’s a niche market with relatively low competition due to the limited number of parks that permit such activities.

Business Advantages of this Venture
1. Low Entry Barrier
      •   The initial investment for a fleet of electric cars is moderate compared to other forms of entertainment ventures.
      •   No permanent structure is required, reducing setup costs.
2. High Demand in Family-Centric Locations
      •   Public parks attract families with young children, especially during weekends and school holidays.
      •   Parents are often willing to pay small amounts (e.g., RM5) for short bursts of safe entertainment for their kids.
3. Repeatable and Scalable Model
      •   Once successful in one location, the business model can easily be replicated in other parks or events.
      •   Franchise potential exists if standard operating procedures and branding are developed.
4. Cash-Based, Low Overhead Business
      •   Transactions are simple and mostly cash-based.
      •   Minimal staffing required—usually just 1–2 attendants per setup.
5. Positive Community Engagement
      •   Provides safe, accessible recreation for children.
      •   Enhances the appeal of the park, indirectly supporting local tourism and food vendors.
6. Flexible Hours and Low Maintenance
      •   Most operations are on weekends or public holidays.
      •   Electric cars are relatively easy to maintain and repair.
7. Mobile and Adaptable
      •   The business can participate in school fairs, community events, and weekend markets, expanding beyond park operations.

ONE PHOTO EVERY WEEK 17/52/2025- LIFE SKETCHING ART BUSINESS

Last weekend when I was having a drink with my fellow photograhers community at Makan Buzz, I saw a small kiosk manned by a famous local cartoonist Kulatt. His business is doing live caricatures for passers-by.  He did one for me. It costs RM15. While he was drawing me, we talked about art business. As an art-entrepreneur business coach, I gave him some advice to diversify his active and passive income.   The business of caricature art sits at a fascinating intersection of entertainment, fine art, and commercial service. The image I shared shows a street caricature artist at work — a powerful reminder of how immediate, personal, and engaging this art form can be. Business of Caricature Art 1. Street & Event-Based Caricature Art:    •   Tourist Spots & Markets: Artists draw live caricatures for passersby, offering personalized art in real-time. It’s a great way to earn daily income, particularly in high-footfall areas.    •  ...

ONE PHOTO EVERY WEEK 23/52/2025- ROADSIDE FOOD KIOSK

People continuing to eat at roadside stalls in a modern city like Putrajaya—despite the availability of polished office-tower restaurants—says a lot when viewed through the entrepreneurial lens. As a business coach, I explore raison d'etre for the co-existence of two classes of restaurants for different market segmets. 1. Understanding Customer Behavior Is a Key Entrepreneurial Skill Roadside stall operators inherently understand where people gather, what they want, and how they prefer to consume. In Putrajaya, many patrons:    •   Seek quick meals during busy schedules.    •   Appreciate the authentic, local flavor often lost in upscale restaurants.    •   Prefer open-air, casual settings where there’s no pressure to dress up or spend more than they planned. 👉 Entrepreneurial insight: Successful entrepreneurs recognize that convenience, familiarity, and community often outweigh luxury. 2. I have better chance to make money selling nasi lemak and teh tarik in BB Bangi. For more info on Malaysia Book Industy Report, read the attached note below the photo. However, if you really want to go into this business,I recommend you start selling online. My friend made a sale more than RM1,000,000 last year. Start small, learn the ropes and connect to strategic partners like Kota Buku. For me, I will focus on my writing to share my knowledge and experience.  Selling? Let others do it.
